A major combat update has arrived in MurderCartel! Challenge other players to fair duels, risk valuable rewards and explore the dangerous new Darkwood PvP zone.
## Player Duels
Right-click another player and select **Duel** to challenge them.
Before the fight begins, both players can choose what they want to wager:
- Gold
- Items
- Both gold and items
- Nothing — friendly duels are also possible
Both players must lock their wager before the countdown begins. The winner automatically receives everything that was wagered and sees a clear overview of the rewards.
During a duel:
- Both players fight inside a visible combat arena.
- Leaving the arena is not allowed.
- Health bars show the current health of both fighters.
- Skills, projectiles and combat effects work against your opponent.
- Freeze, confusion, damage-over-time, lifesteal and other skill effects can influence the fight.
- Only one combat status effect can be active at a time.
- Other players are hidden so you can focus entirely on your opponent.
- Travelling and entering other areas are disabled until the duel ends.
## Class Balance in Duels
Every class keeps its own combat identity:
- **Warriors** receive increased movement speed and can see their melee attack radius.
- **Mages and Rangers** receive an increased attack radius.
- Warrior resistance against projectiles changes based on distance, rewarding close-range pressure.
- Projectiles travel faster during PvP combat for smoother and more responsive battles.
## Darkwood PvP Zone
The portal to **Darkwood** is now open.
Darkwood is a dangerous open-world PvP area where other players can become your enemies. When entering a PvP map, you receive temporary protection:
- You cannot attack or cast skills during the protection period.
- Other players cannot see or damage you.
- Hostile projectiles are hidden during protection.
- This gives you enough time to load into the area and prepare before combat begins.
Darkwood also has its own atmospheric soundtrack.
## Improved PvP Visibility
The minimap now makes player relationships easier to understand:
- 🔴 Enemies appear red
- 🔵 Party members appear light blue
- 🟢 Guild members appear dark green
Projectile impacts and visuals have also been improved so attacks disappear correctly when they hit their target.
## PvP Gravestones
When a player dies, their gravestone appears immediately for nearby players. If the player carried no lost items, the empty gravestone automatically disappears shortly afterwards.
Enter Darkwood, challenge your rivals and prove who is the strongest fighter in MurderCartel! ⚔️
